I am Tünde Szalay (IPA: /ˈtyndɛ ˈsɑlɑi/), a phonetician working on variation in Australian English, and its implications for speech technology and health. In my projects, I focus on

  • articulatory, acoustic, and perceptual variation in liquids,
  • articulation of other sounds, and
  • sociophonetic variation in the LGBTQI+ population.

    • I use phonetics to build and inform

  • speech corpora and speech technology, and
  • speech health.

    • Across all my projects, I build Praat workflows for acoustic analysis (click here for scripts).
